Our Mission

At the Institute for Community Mental Health (ICMH), we are transforming the mental and behavioral health landscape through the development, implementation and dissemination of evidence-based mental health practices. Our mission is to generate new knowledge relevant to the provision of mental health care, to foster impactful connections between clinical psychological science and the community, and to increase access to science-based care for our communities.

The ICMH stands as a beacon of innovation and collaboration, bridging the gap between research and real-world application of the best science our field has to offer. Our three-pronged approach to impacting the mental health needs of individuals and society ensures that we deliver high-quality care, engage in cutting-edge research, and train the next generation of clinical scientists and practitioners.

Our Three-Pronged Approach

The ICMH’s approach to impacting the mental health needs of society is built on a foundation of academic and community collaboration, utilizing three interrelated entities to serve our community and increase the impact clinical psychological science.

Research & Training

The Center for Training, Evaluation & Community Collaboration (C-TECC) works closely with community stakeholders to apply scientific solutions to pressing mental health challenges in systems of care.

Focus Areas
  • Train community providers in evidence-based practices.
  • Evaluate and improve community mental health services.
  • Conduct research that informs new and more effective interventions.

Graduate Program

The M.S. Program in Clinical Psychological Science at UD prepares students to think like scientists while training as clinicians, integrating clinical science with community practice.

Focus Areas
  • Provide state of the science clinical and research training focused on the interdependence of laboratory work and clinical applications.
  • Develop a well-trained workforce to meet the pressing needs of society for psychological services.
  • Train clinicians from underrepresented backgrounds, including bilingual professionals to serve those populations that often lack access to care.
  • Build capacity for impactful clinical research that addresses real-world problems.

Community Clinic
